Biography

Kim "Mighty Mouse" Franchina (RN, PT, Nutritionist) wasn't always lifting cars and flipping tires -- she is a nurse, personal trainer and wellness educator with Evolution Source, who teaches her clients about transferring the work they do in the gym to real life.

After seeing Canada's Strongest Woman Josée Morneau compete, Kim was instantly drawn to strongwomen competition. Not only were these women strong, they were also beautiful and "real-looking". Although she only started training in 2004, she has already garnered an impressive list of accomplishments. It hasn't been easy; Kim has overcome health problems, a physical disability and obesity, dropping from a weight of 320 lbs to find her passion -- living life at full throttle. Lifting weights and sculpting a leaner, fitter body, she now competes with women half her age and size -- not only for personal satisfaction and health and fitness goals, but also as a means to lead by example in the fight against obesity.

In 2004, Kim received the PharmaSave Remarkable Woman Award. She was also nominated in both 2004 and 2005 for the YMCA Women of Distinction Award.
