Luke when you say max weight wins in the log and the stone events do you mean you will calculate the total weight of all the reps lifted at whichever weight is chosen by the competitors in those events and the biggest total wins? So a double with either of the smaller implements would beat a single with the bigger ones? Or you mean even 1 rep with the larger implements beats any reps with the smaller ones?

Good question. I mean the ladder. 1 rep with the heavier log or stone beats any number of reps with the smaller log or stone.

The point of doing it this way is to give the guys who may not be quite strong enough to do the heavy one a chance to battle it out for the crowd with a lighter one. Also, if an athlete was to miss the heavy one, they can then go for the lighter one to salvage some points....make sense?

Yes thanks, sounds like a fun and entertaining way to do it. It worked well that way in the Barrie show last year with the different logs.

Strongwomen, I have two interested ladies. I'll put on a comp with at least four competitors.

If anyone knows of a few girls who'd be interested in competing let them know about this comp. Thanks.

Good question Rob. I would follow a similar format to the men with the women. Possible weights for the women are:

1. Log press, 110 or 80 for reps. Any reps on 110 beats any reps on 80.
2. Medley, 60-100lb sandbag, 150-200lb drag, 100-150 FW
3. Car Squat - 200-300lbs for reps
4. Atlas stone over bar for reps -not sure on the weight, the smallest stone that I have access to is 180lbs...it may be too heavy.

Quick update. I've been working with Rogers TV to get the competiton broadcast in three 30 min episodes. They love the idea of the competition and I've agreed to help prepare the show for them if it goes ahead...they prefer long standing series locally though so I'd say it's 50/50 for being broadcast as of right now. Advertising has been secured on Rogers though. On May 27th, I will be on the local channel for 30min to promote the contest and talk about the sport of strongman. So that's pretty cool.

Paid Entries as of March 21st
-Lance Lavalle
-Andy Burwell
-Craig Bongelli
-Terry Morrison
-Ben Ruckstuhl
-Rich Machell
-Adam Witzel
-Josh Hewitt
-Eric Rautenburg
-Adam McInroy

There are 4 other guys who've said they're sending money in so if you're interested in doing this competition get your $$$ in fast. For payments received after the 12 spots are full, you will be placed on a waiting list and I will hold the payment. If you don't end up getting a spot due to a drop out or injury then your entry fee will be returned. If we don't get enough ladies for a women's comp, we will have a ladies demo and I will consider upping the limit to 14 competitors for the men's side.

We will be going with professional looking plaques instead of trophys for the top 3 and then cash and supps for the prizes.

We now have a 5 ladies who've expressed interest so the women's comp is a go too. Ladies, registration will be $40 with all funds going back to the athletes as prize money, with plaques for the top 3. Payment instructions are on the first page of this thread.

Interested Women
-Renee de Leseleuc
-Glendy Randall
-Jen Mulhall
-Becky Schmidt
-Nikki Desrosiers

Men's Paid Entries as of March 26st
1) Lance Lavalle
2) Andy Burwell
3) Craig Bongelli
4) Terry Morrison
5) Ben Ruckstuhl
6) Rich Machell
7) Adam Witzel
8.) Josh Hewitt
9) Eric Rautenburg
10) Adam McInroy
11) Dave Gascho

Looks like one spot left. I'll be going by when the funds are recieved for Paypal and when postmarked for cheques. After that it's waiting list for any possible cancellations or drop outs.

Also, I could use some help setting up the events at the show. Let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested. Any volunteers will get a shirt and will be looked after for food.
