MY CONDITION
3rd UPDATE: June 23rd, 2002
By: J.V. Askem

No new medical stuff to report at this time. My next appointment will be the end of August. The motor functions in my left leg have almost returned to normal. However, my left lower hamstring is causing residual discomfort from the April 29th seizure. It mostly hurts kneeing. However, I'm confident I can rehab this.

I stopped my anti seizure medication (Dilantin) June 17th. This was done by reducing the dosage gradually. Then I followed that with a two day (June 19 & 20) de-tox fast, consuming only *potassium broth the first day, and organic cranberry juice the second day. This is recommended for Melanoma in the book "Healthy Healing" by Linda Rector Page ND, Ph.D..

DIET
My diet is very strict! Absolutely NO refined sugar what so ever! Cancer cells love sugar, so the best way to kill them is to starve them. Also, I'm checking my fat content closely. My protocol is to balance the 4 main food groups. Nothing fancy, just eat as close to the way God made it. Lots of fresh greens: Spinach, broccoli, Romaine lettuce, peas, parsley, plus a lot of carrots, ALL eaten raw. Proteins of preference: Halibut, Salmon, Albacore Tuna, Chicken, Eggs. Only whole grain bread and organic cereals (rolled oats or millet) with no sweeteners except fresh fruits. For dairy, just plain non fat yogurt, also only sweetened with fresh fruit.

NOTE: Americans on average eat 140 lbs of refined sugar per year.

NOTE: In 1931 Dr Otto Warburg received the Nobel Prize for his discovery that cancer cells are nourished by the fermentation of sugar. For more information on Dr. Warburg click here > http://google.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=Dr+Otto+Warburg&hc=0&hs=0

EXERCISE
My main exercise has been walking, starting with laps around my back yard the first week after leaving the hospital. I'm now up to 2.5 to 4 miles per day. Also, I recently started a light *Body Maintenance schedule.

That's about it. With continued support from my family and friends I'm keeping a positive attitude. Thank you all again for your prayers and well wishes. JVA
